<why>I expected a decent Basic Pension, untaxed and not means tested. Now there is a surplus in the NI Fund of £36 billion which will rise by 2012 to £60 billion,
the interest alone from this is sufficient to increase the state basic pension to £200 per week per singl pensioner. Why has this not been done.

What are the EU Member States Basic Pension benefit as a comparison to the UK and what % contributions support this in all member states.</why>

Whilst they have done great things, there is so much arrogance there and we are simply toadying to the USA and President Bush. Why can't we stand on our own two feet instead of hiding in the USA's shadow! I feel sick at the thought of not voting Labour next time - I would feel i was betraying my roots and beliefs - but would I be? Is the current Labour party - or at least the principles the leadership peddling at the moment really the Labour principles I was brought up to believe in? I'm not so sure any more!</why>

<why>I voted for Wayne Hoban, the Liberal Democrat candidate in Tottenham. I also campaigned for him by delivering leaflets in the Harringay ward.

To the previous poster: please get in touch with Wayne Hoban, the candidate (waynehoban.org) and say you want to help out in Tottenham. We won our first two council seats in the Tottenham constituency this May, and we are now beginning to campaign in other wards in Tottenham. Our only constraint is a current lack of vlunteers -- your assistance could be incredibly important. </why>

      <title>I voted for Lib Dems</title>
      <votefor>Liberal Democrat</votefor>
      <votemethod>not stated</votemethod>
<why>I voted for Lib Dems in the last local elections and the last general election, even though they did no campaigning in Tottenham that I could see. I simply want a change in Haringey, as I am sick to death of the Labour party that has done nothing to diminish the east/west, poor/rich split in the borough, even though they have had control of the Council FOREVER.

The schools in Tottenham are appalling, with everyone that I know who has sons moving out before they will risk their futures here.

Environment? Don't make me laugh. Every scrap of land in Tottenham is covered in &quot;social&quot; housing with nothing for local FAMILIES to live in. Any 3 bed or more house in the area is destined to be converted to flats, with or without permission. Traffic calming schemes that do nothing but damage local cars and houses. A Planning Department and Building Control that you have to badger to take any action against unauthorised works by developers, but would come down on owner occupiers like a ton of bricks for even a minor breach.

Parking policies and bus lanes that have more to do with punishing drivers than traffic control. Absolutely bonkers...

Does the Council (Councillors or officers) ever use EVIDENCE for any of their policies? They haven't got the means of collecting coherent and credible information about anything going on in the borough, so I sincerely doubt it. Ask them for the costs of maintaining the continually damaged traffic calming scheme, and they are completely unable to provide information, and will simply try to lie about it.

I am incredibly disappointed that the Lib-Dems don't seem to see the traditional working class areas of Haringey as having any value to them, and don't campaign here at all. We need credible candidates who have the area's interests at heart, and I cannot see that we have anyone to vote for.

Our MP, who supposedly came from Tottenham, is much, much more interested in his political career than actually representing his constituents. He is a New Labour lapdog, an Oreo, and will never get my vote again. I voted for Labour with hope 11 years ago, and have been sadly disillusioned by them. &quot;Moral foreign policy&quot;. Yeah, right...

He never responds to email, either.</why>
